FAQs.
What does the True Slate Logo stand for?
The logo was designed to mimic a yin/yang symbol and incorporate the many shades of gray that exist between black and white. We believe to feel whole - we need to find our own balance in life and fitness. Let’s walk the line between yin and yang together and discover our truth. (A side fun fact...after I designed the logo, I realized it looks like the end of my dumbbell weights!)
Do I need a membership (or have to pay) to attend Live Classes or watch recordings?
No, our services are FREE. No gimmicks or sales. Just opportunities to move. TRUE SLATE is built by instructors who just love to move and want to IMPACT people’s lives. We built this platform to share our passion for movement and to build a community that keeps each other motivated + holds each other accountable. In person, we also offer personal training services at a rate tailored to you.
How do I access the Live Classes?
First sign up on the True Slate newsletter for live class access. Each week, the live class links are sent in our Wednesday newsletter along with the week’s schedule. The live class zoom link should allow you access into class even if you do not have a zoom account.
I missed a live workout, how do I view this week's recordings?
All live classes are uploaded 24 hours after they are recorded. Once uploaded, the classes are updated on the “Workouts of the Week” section of our WORKOUT PAGE. Also, if you are subscribed to our newsletter, you can access the recording from the CLASS PLAN link.
What equipment do I need for workouts?
Please read our Class Descriptions which lists typical pieces of equipment you may find in each class. Strength classes typically use a pair of light, medium, and heavy weights (either dumbbells or kettlebells). In my strength workouts, I typically use a pair of 7-10lbs weights for my light weights and a pair of 15-20lbs for my medium/heavy weights.
I’d like to purchase some equipment - what do you recommend?
I have ZERO AFFILIATIONS and receive no kickbacks for the recommendations below. These brands are merely ones that I find are affordable and have a decent lifespan when I train my clients and use the equipment in my own workouts:
Dumbbells: REP Fitness Dumbbells with Straight Shaft (Note: I generally prefer dumbbells made with rubber and metal since they are less likely to get scratched/dinged when dropping weights on the floor. In addition to this, I find a straight metal only shaft has less wear and tear on people’s hands with high reps)
Kettlebells: Kettlebell USA Metrixx ® Elite Precision e-coat Kettlebell - This is a traditional design kettlebell with a durable coating. The design incorporates a larger handle hoop which allows for optimal placement on the forearm in terms of comfort.
Flat Bands: Theraband Beginner aka Light Set ; Theraband Advanced aka Heavy Set
Loop bands: Rubber Loop Band Set of 4 (for ankle band walking); Black/Gray Loop Band Fabric Set (for thighs i.e. squats) *warning - I have had clients tell me the pink set is not the same resistance*
I signed up through the newsletter, but I still haven’t received my class links for the week. How do I access class?
Class links are sent out once a week, Wednesday afternoons. If you are signing up on a Th, Fri, Sat, or Sun you will not receive your first email until the following Wednesday. If you want instant access to the Th-Sun classes coming up, you can email trueslate.fitness@gmail.com for that weeks class information. Typical response times are 24-48 hours.
